Leading a Global Tech Company by Faith: The Dana Dunmyer Story

Dana Dunmyer

In a world chasing titles, tech, and financial triumph, Dana Dunmyer stands out—not because he built a multimillion-dollar global tech empire—but because he did it by listening to the voice of God and obeying Him at all costs.

After two decades in pastoral ministry, Dana Dunmyer followed a divine prompting in 1995 that led him and his family on a faith-driven journey marked by obedience, hardship, homelessness and breakthrough. From a temp job at GE to founding CADCOM and later TQINet (now TQI Solutions), Dana built a global technology firm serving Fortune 500 clients and U.S. government agencies. He then established the Beracha Foundation, which has provided over $54 million in subsidized services to nonprofits in 110 countries. Today, Dana leads Convene—a faith-forward platform and fifth-generation enterprise system—designed as both a Kingdom ecosystem and economic engine. Convene empowers Christian businesses, nonprofits, and churches with a powerful suite of tools: community building, private groups, media channels, digital storefronts, LMS and eLearning syndication, coaching networks, collaborative workspaces, and access to over 80 revenue streams. As an ordained pastor and serial entrepreneur, Dana remains committed to multiplying God-given tools for God-given missions—equipping leaders to thrive in unity, sustainability, and Kingdom impact.

From the Pulpit to the Boardroom

Dana met Christ at just over 15 years old and quickly felt called to ministry. For over two decades, he faithfully served as a pastor—planting churches, preaching the gospel, and making disciples across the U.S. and beyond. But one day, during a mountaintop prayer retreat, the Lord called him to take a radical leap: resign his church and follow Him on a faith journey.

No roadmap. No guarantees. Just God's voice and a command: "Trust Me."

Dana obeyed. He and his family packed up their lives and moved across the country. Within months, they found themselves homeless in a one-room motel in Cincinnati, Ohio—jobless, uncertain, yet clinging to God's promise.

When Obedience Looks Like Failure

To the world, this might have looked like foolishness. But to God, it was preparation.

Dana and his wife took temp jobs to make ends meet. While working at GE as a temp, God positioned him for a divine appointment—one that would eventually place him before the president of GE Aircraft Engines. Without formal tech experience, Dana boldly proposed a digital strategy for GE’s future—and offered to lead it.

GE said yes. Overnight, Dana went from earning $10.25 an hour to running a tech company servicing one of the world’s biggest corporations. Within three years, his company grew to over 300 employees and served multiple GE divisions.

But the story didn’t end there.

The God of Second Chances (and Second Startups)

After selling his first company, GE came calling again. Dissatisfied with the new owners, they asked Dana to start another company and take back the reins—knowing it could provoke lawsuits. Dana prayed, said yes, and paid over $1.5 million in legal fees to do what God called him to do. And once again, God honored his obedience. Doors opened to Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and more.

This was never about business success. It was about kingdom obedience. Dana understood what many forget: God doesn’t need our expertise—He needs our surrender.

Marketplace Ministry in Action

Today, Dana continues to lead with kingdom vision. He supports global missions, empowers Christian entrepreneurs, and helps churches and nonprofits scale for impact. And despite his accomplishments, Dana remains a man after God’s heart—waking up in the early hours to pray, meditate on Scripture, and listen for the Holy Spirit’s whisper.

As Dana shared in the interview, “The last three and a half years, I feel like I've quadrupled my relationship with God compared to my time as a pastor.” Why? Because he now prioritizes listening to God above all else.

Lessons for Us All

  • Obedience is greater than sacrifice. (1 Samuel 15:22) Dana could’ve stayed in the pulpit, clinging to comfort, but chose obedience—and God multiplied his impact beyond the church walls.

  • God’s voice will lead you through the valley. Even when it looked like everything had fallen apart, the Lord was writing a bigger story.

  • We don’t need the blueprint—we need the Builder. Like Nehemiah, Dana stepped out without a script. All he had was faith—and it was enough.

  • God restores what obedience costs. Just like Job and the King of Babylon, restoration followed surrender.

“If I had a billboard,” Dana said, “it would read: ‘God loves you. Trust Him. He wants to do amazing things in your life.’”

And that’s the truth. If you’re in the valley, if God is asking you to step into the unknown—trust Him. He is faithful to those who obey.

The next move may not make sense on paper. But if it’s from the Lord, it will bear fruit that lasts for eternity.
