Stepping Into the Season of Purpose

When life forces us to hit pause, it usually feels like everything is falling apart. We often spend years building up a specific direction, pouring our time and talent into a chosen career path, only to wake up one day and realize the door has shut tightly behind us.

Evan Liberman is a registered Investment advisor in both the U.S. and Israel. After growing up in the American Messianic movement and making Aliyah 33 years ago, Evan founded Wise Money Israel. As the only believer-owned wealth management firm licensed in Israel, Evan and his team help investors from 35 nations participate in Israel’s economy through biblically responsible investing. Managing over $120 million in assets with a track record of good year-over-year returns, the firm helps align our faith with our finances through investing in Israeli stocks and bonds.

Beyond his professional work, Evan is a deeply rooted leader in the Land. He serves as a Hebrew-speaking congregation leader and sits on the boards of Israel’s largest believer-run humanitarian group, The Joseph Project International, and the believer business economic forum Israel First Fruits. He’s also the Secretary for Israel for the International Messianic Jewish Alliance, and also on the National Steering Committee for Hebrew-speaking Messianic Congregations.

Evan lives in Binyamina with his wife, Sarah, and their three children—who are all following in his footsteps to serve in the defense of Israel in the IDF. Evan truly lives out the values he shares with his clients every day.

In this special conversation hosted by David Mansilla on the Anchoring Hope Podcast, Evan sits down to share his journey. Hearing how God restructured his life from tech to finance reminds us that our hardest career resets are often God's exact doorway to deeper spiritual growth. When we stop clinging to our own rigid roadmaps, we give God room to write a far bigger story through us.

The Fire of Humbled Beginnings

It takes real courage to let go of our past achievements and start over at the bottom. Before Evan built his wealth management firm, he spent two decades working as a tech director and software developer. But when doors in the technology world began closing, he was forced to step down the ladder step-by-step—eventually reaching a place where he could not land entry-level technical roles.

Instead of growing bitter, he allowed that heavy season of uncertainty to refine his heart. He learned that stepping backward in the eyes of the world is often how God prepares us for true servant leadership. By accepting a free local retraining course right on his birthday, he pivoted entirely toward managing capital markets—taking minimum-wage entry roles in his 40s just to learn the trade from scratch.

This willingness to embrace fresh starts is what separates everyday workers from true Christian entrepreneurs. When we choose humility over pride, God takes our willingness to serve and turns it into a platform for His glory. He proves to us that no season of waiting or starting over is ever wasted.

Leading with Courage in Everyday Faith

Living out your faith in the public square is rarely easy or comfortable. In a marketplace where standing up for Jesus can sometimes mean losing business deals or facing personal rejection, Evan leads his organization with quiet confidence, authenticity, and grace. He views his daily work not just as a paycheck, but as a vital form of marketplace ministry.

For Evan, leadership is about leading from the front—whether that means serving in tough military units like the paratroopers, raising a family, or volunteering time to guide local Hebrew-speaking believers. He models a style of leadership that puts other people first, showing that real strength comes from serving those around you.

This form of practical Christianity shows us that our workplaces are our primary mission fields. When we bring integrity, excellence, and love into our businesses, we bring light into rooms that desperately need it. Faith isn't just something reserved for weekends—it's something we live out through every handshake and financial decision.

Building Bridges Through Kingdom Vision

Business can be so much more than a tool for personal profit; it can be an engine for global connection and community service. After building his business from the ground up, Evan realized that investors around the world needed a practical way to support and partner with the nation of Israel directly, creating a meaningful two-way partnership rather than a simple one-way donation.

Through his firm, he helps everyday families participate directly in the nation's economic resilience, backing industries that continue to grow and recover even through seasons of deep conflict and regional hardship. His life demonstrates that when we align our investments and daily choices with God's promises, we become part of a story much larger than ourselves.

This vision reminds us of the true power behind Christian living. When our work honors God, it transforms our financial decisions into daily acts of stewardship. We get to watch God take our humble gifts, hard work, and business tools to build lasting bridges across nations.

Staying Rooted When the World Shakes

True faith is not tested when life is smooth and calm; it is proven during seasons of hardship, unexpected turns, and regional trials. Living in a land that faces constant pressure requires a special kind of deep-rooted peace—a quiet trust that God remains completely in control, no matter what the daily headlines might say.

Evan's story encourages us to hold fast to patience and trust God's long-term timing. Just as a strong economy bounces back from unexpected drops, our spiritual lives can recover and thrive when anchored in Christ. Building a business, raising children who step up to serve, and guiding a faith community all demand long-term patience and unwavering obedience.

As we look at our own lives, we are called to bring this same unshakable commitment into our everyday walk. By practicing community service, leaning into our callings, and trusting God with our future, we can stand strong regardless of the storms around us. When our foundation is built on Jesus, our lives become steady beacons of hope for a watching world.

“God does have the plan worked out. He sees the future. He wants good for us as His children. But His plans aren’t going to look like ours. His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways. But He will work it out in the end, and all things do work together for good for those who love the Lord.”
