As the President and CEO of Thor Guard Lightning Prediction Systems, Bob leads a company that does more than just detect strikes; it analyzes the atmosphere to save lives before the lightning even falls.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Bob is a man of deep passions and profound faith. Residing in South Florida, he is an avid golfer and fisherman who now spends much of his time speaking to students about career paths and their walk with Jesus. Following the loss of his wife, Susan, Bob authored the book All I Am, a work born from his journey of healing and a divine mandate to share how God’s hand has guided his life.
The Science of Saving Lives
While many are familiar with lightning detection—knowing where a strike just landed—Thor Guard specializes in lightning prediction. Bob explains that their technology monitors the Earth's electrostatic fields, looking at the movement of positive and negative ions.
Advanced Warning: By analyzing energy components in the ground and clouds, the system provides warnings 8 to 20 minutes before a strike occurs.
Technological Leap: Since 2016, the systems have evolved from 50 samples per second to a staggering 170,000 analyses per second using 32-bit processors.

A "Fork in the Road" Career
Bob’s path to Thor Guard wasn’t a straight line; it was a series of "God moments" that began on a fishing trip in Costa Rica he initially didn't want to attend. This trip introduced him to connections that would later lead to a career-defining choice.
Bob faced a "fork in the road" between a high-profile job making world-class golf shafts and the challenging task of selling lightning prediction technology. A mentor, Gary Adams (founder of TaylorMade), gave him the perspective that changed his life: while the golf job would be fun, Thor Guard offered the rare opportunity to save human lives. Bob chose the harder path, and 35 years later, he maintains it was worth it.
Faith Through the Storm
Bob is candid about his "contentious" early relationship with faith, having struggled with the effects of polio from a young age and often blaming Jesus for his challenges. However, his perspective shifted through undeniable supernatural experiences:
The "Bolt out of the Blue": Bob witnessed the system predict a strike on a perfectly sunny day, which eventually hit six people on a golf course exactly as warned.
The "Heaven" License Plate: Following the sudden death of his wife, Susan, Bob encountered a car with a "Heaven" license plate at a moment of deep despair—a plate he had never seen in 25 years on Marco Island.
The Christmas Rain: During a breakdown on his patio, Bob asked Jesus if He cried when Bob cried. It immediately began to pour, and then stopped the moment Bob asked for the rain to cease.
Knowing vs. Believing
The most profound takeaway from Bob’s journey is his transition from having faith to having certainty. He explains that while he once had faith that Jesus existed, his personal experiences and the "miracles" surrounding his wife’s passing have moved him beyond belief.
"I no longer have faith in Jesus because he is alive and he's real and I know it," Bob shares. He encourages others to simply open their hearts and ask for a sign, noting that while life remains difficult, trusting in God's timeline changes how one manages people, does their job, and views the world.
